Christmas Tradition: Wrapping Up Baby Jesus

Every year for the past 3 years I have wrapped Baby Jesus from the Nativity in a shiny gold box and placed it under the tree. On the gift tag I write to: Christin, Caleb, Ciarra and Now Camryn From: Your Abba Father

I hide this gift deep under the tree and we always unwrap it last. We then talk about how God's gift of sending his son, Jesus, to live as a man and die for our sins is the best gift of all time. We then say a prayer of thanks and go eat our Christmas Breakfast.

It is a favorite thing for me on Christmas morning because it gives us a reason to pause and focus on the good stuff and not on just all of the gifts, wrappings, and boxes lying all over the place.

Think this might be something you would like to do with your family? If you have baby Jesus lying in the manger, just go get him, wrap him up, and surprise your family with a small but HUGE gift under the tree. No Nativity? Walmart sells individual pieces of the Nativity scene for $2 each.

And if you have a chance, please read this post by Shannon from last year. It is really a wonderful read to put your mind and spirit at peace during these last few hectic days.

Thanks so much for sharing this, Angie. I was planning on hiding the Baby Jesus for the kids to find on Christmas morning and put in the Nativity, but I like this idea so much better. It's a wonderful tradition that really brings it all back to "the reason for the season." :)

That's such a neat idea! I think I will do this. Thanks for sharing!

i'm going to try that this Christmas. the hubs isn't a believer (he's still seeking though) so that would be an excellent present for him!
