Every few days I check the stats of my blog. One of the stats I find very interesting is how people got to my site from their Google searches. Lately though the Google searches have been topics like these:
- how to feed my family on only $20 per week
- how to find a second job
- tips for selling my stuff
- coupons for food
- surviving a layoff
- stop paying my credit cards
- living off beans and rice
Google searches are showing that the recession is here and it is very real. Now is a good time to focus on the non-material things that could really make a difference in life:
- getting a solid education
- spending time with family
- reading to your kids instead of buying them more stuff
- learning to cook and eat at home to save money and be healthier
- spending time in Bible Study and prayer
- getting rid of clutter (such a freeing experience)
- incurring no new debt
I don't think my generation has ever been through a recession and many people are scared. You don't need to be scared just take the necessary steps like those above to "recession proof" your life. This too shall pass and hopefully all of us will be better because of having to go through the fire of economic downturn.

Hi,
I just found your blog by typing the words "cost of wheat flour and doughnuts" into Google. Actually I wasn't looking for a way to be thrifty. I'm a financial analyst during the day and I was actually thinking about investing in Krispy Kreme -- it's either going to file Chapter 11 or it will be a great investment -- and was wondering how the rising cost of wheat flour will impact doughnut sales. But since I'm here, I've decided to bookmark your blog. Looks like a good site!
