I was on the phone with a good friend and homeschooling mom to 2 precious, totally boy boys last night about Christmas. She said she really wants replacement blades for her Schick Intuition razor. I can so understand that! She has no needs for fancy clothes (she plays and teaches on the floor all day), no need for fine jewelry, and certainly not gift certificates to fancy restaurants where her boys would run wild. She would be perfectly content with those razor blades.
This reminded me so much of myself and what I want for Christmas. It usually has everything to do with my life as a mom, teacher, or my household. Besides the always treasured and cherished handmade and "I found it in the house already" gifts from my kids (do your kids do that? My kids find stuff in their rooms and wrap it for me! I love it!) What I really want for Christmas is colorful, hard to break, Fiesta Ware dishes and coordinating serving items. I have wanted Fiesta Ware forever! I currently have mismatched dishes consisting of some Corelle, some Wal-mart buy me for a $1 plates, and some nasty, cracked melamine plates that came from who knows where.
So, I told my husband my desires and he looked at me like I was crazy! This of course is the man who already has his gift of a new Xbox 360 to the tune of $400!!!!!!!!!
I logged into my husband's Amazon account and put 8 place settings of Fiesta Ware into his shopping cart. On Monday I found out that all Fiesta Ware was buy 3 get 1 free at Amazon. I called him and told him to click "purchase". So I am happy to say that my Fiesta Ware is on its way! I am thrilled beyond words.
It will be wrapped and placed under the tree and as the kids unwrap their toys and gadgets, my husband unwraps some xbox games and tools, I will unwrap the dishes and they will look at me like I'm crazy and all will be good in the world.
Of course, if you are reading this dear husband, you can always buy something nice for me that comes in a small box that sparkles and shines! Hint, hint!
So, what do you want for Christmas ladies? What will bring you joy to receive?

9 frugal-minded friends say:
I really want an IPOD this year so I can download all of my fave songs...guess I need one of those charger/speaker things, too! I want a really good iron, too. How boring is that? The one I have now is stuck on one setting and gets too hot! :-)
I don't think I'm getting the razor blades. My husband thinks he'll get the wrong ones. Plus he said that's not a nice gift. He wants to give me something special so, he had me show him how to shop online with Overstock. I should be happy that he feels this way but I do really want those razor blades! Ther are never on sale. Anyway, he found a very nice heart locket to put pictures of the boys in. This way I can wear them around my neck. If I ever start to feel my sanity return I can just look at their little faces. :)
Oh yes, my Christmas list is very similar! This year I asked for a FoodSaver. I am rethinking that and I want an over the range microwave. lol DH went hunting this week and got a deer, I "need" that FoodSaver this week, not in 2.5weeks!
Oh I love my Fiestaware. What color(s) did you get? I got all my dishes as Christmas gift too. EAch year I ask for more pieces, accessories and the such. I love it and everyone knows what they can get me. I really want the new colors Evergreen and Scarlet for Christmas dishes, but I really can not justify it. I got nice Christmas dishes for my birthday about 5 years ago, and they will last forever. So...I can dream of those. LOL!

I have the dark maroon color Fiesta Ware and love it!
I just wanted to stop in and tell you that Food Lion is having their .69 a lb sale on whole Chickens again! Good deal and I've got 8 of them cooking right now!
Anything from J. Jill with a tag on it. I thrift almost everything and truly love the game of it, but once and a while it's nice to have something brand spanking new!
Re: Intuition razors. I was at Wal-Mart tonight and saw an "Intuition Gift Set" on sale for $9.99. Included in the set was a razor, a FIVE pack of refill blades, a manicure set, and some other items. You can't buy the refill blades alone for that cheap! Maybe something worth looking into?
P.S. My parents surprised me with 8 place settings of Fiestaware (scarlet) for Christmas 2 years ago. I've been blessed with many serving pieces since then - absolutely LOVE it!
ooooh....I love fiesta, too. Bet ya can't wait! Congrats! Be sure and post pics of it after Christmas, ok?
Thanks Mrs. Marcos! I'm gonna send my dh up there to get it! He did ask me again about them.
